Walking the Lerici hiking trails is an amazing way to get better acquainted with the natural beauty of this part of Liguria. Much of the territory of the municipality of Lerici is in fact part of the Regional Natural Park of Montemarcello-Magra. The area thus attracts visitors not only for its beaches , but also for the variety of beautiful nature trails.
The hills overlooking the sea are characterised with typical Mediterranean flora and terraces planted with olive trees. There is such a variety of routes to experience from - rocky terraces overlooking the sea to areas where you walk through the woods to the discovery of ancient roads, places where the historical memory of the Great War is still alive.
What you are also sure to enjoy on any of the paths is breathtaking views that stretch to the Gulf of Spezia and intense characteristic aroma of wild herbs and flowers.
Most of the hiking trails are part of the circuit 'Alta Via del Golfo (AVG), which allows enthusiasts to trek around much of the hilly province of La Spezia while at the same time enjoy excellent access points to the sea.
