What is the best time to visit the province of La Spezia, I hear you ask... The answer is pretty much anytime thanks to its typically mild Mediterranean climate.
The place is blessed with an ideal location where the proximity to the sea moderates the temperatures in the coastal areas and prevents large wings in temperature throughout the year.
At the same time, its southern exposure places the city under the influence of humid and warm winds from the south while the presence of the rings of hills just beyond the coast serves as a barrier against the cold northern winds which after passing the mountains, become less cold due to warming from Foehn winds.
The average annual temperature is around 16°C. The coldest months are January and February with average temperatures of about 6 and 9°C, while the warmest months are July and August with temperatures ranging between 24 and 32°C.
Rainfall reaches its "peak" in the autumn, with October and November being the wettest months of the year. The annual average rainfall of the town is around 1300 mm.
