If you are staying around Lerici, you have to pay a visit to La Caletta Bay . It is tucked between Lerici and Tellaro, just after Maralunga Bay. It is such a beautiful and pristine spot and the bay today is designated as a protected marine area.
It offers not only a secluded little beach to which you can get to via a public path but it also contains in its depths , the remains of a Roman ship dating back to the first century BC.
The ship sunk while on its route transporting marble from Carrara to Provence and its remains as well as a portion of a massive column are still present here underwater (the other part of the column is preserved at the Archaeological Museum in Luni). The bay and its underwater treasure thus attracts divers from around the world ...
Make sure you join in the fun and appreciate its beauty !
