Historically, the building itself was a Benedictine monastery, later converted into a private villa and then transformed into the now renowned luxury hotel in 1901.

For those of you who prefer to stay nearer the Portofino Marina , you can opt to stay in their sister hotel Splendido Mare. It is situated in the heart of Portofino, overlooking the Piazzetta and the small harbour, and offers 16 Rooms and Suites, most with a balcony or terrace.

The Hotel Splendido Portofino offers its guests 69 elegant rooms divided into double rooms , junior suites and suites. Many rooms have private terraces overlooking the enchanting Bay of Portofino.

The available double rooms are tastefully decorated in discreet pastels and are either overlook the pretty gardens or the open sea. Generally, garden-view rooms are slightly smaller than the available sea-view rooms.

Bathrooms in the double rooms are equipped with a single vanity, heated towel-rails, scales and a fine assortment of toiletries. All rooms have touch control central air conditioning and heating, video and fax/modem facilities with multinational plugs.

Junior Suites

The junior suites on offer are charming and spacious with king-size or twin beds and views over the Bay of Portofino and its marina. They come in three variations :

• Junior Suite Superior are coming with polished wooden floors and comfortable funiture and all offer views over the sea.

• Junior Suite Deluxe - the advantage of the Deluxe suites over the Superior ones is that they all come with either balconies or terraces which are equipped with table and chairs, and are ideal for enjoying an al fresco breakfast or indulging in lazy days in the sunshine.

• Junior Suite Executive on the other hand offer the largest room space and the best views from the Junior Suites. They all have a lovely terrace or balcony and some are equipped with sun-beds. Guests can enjoy a spacious bathroom, often with separate shower and double basin.

• The bedrooms in a Suite Deluxe category are quite specious and often come with walk-in dressing room. Some suites offer two terraces with breathtaking sea views, while others have balconies or terraces.

Presidential Suite

The Presidential Suite is a one-bedroom suite and provides four magnificent terraces overlooking Portofino's Bay and the Tigullio Gulf. On request it can double into a two-bedroom suite by connecting it to an executive junior suite.
