Hiking Trail Conditions in the Cinque Terre Following Land Slides

Monterosso - Via Vittorio Emanuele in Oct 2011
I am planning a trip to 5terre in Oct. 2013. What is the condition of the area since the 2012 land slides?
The floods and landslides following a severe rainstorm in Oct 2011, were particularly devastating to the villages of Vernazza
and Monterosso al Mare
filling the streets with mud and debris as well as washing away many of its famed hiking trails.
The reconstruction of the area began during the winter and spring of 2012 with the very ambitious goal of reopening the villages by Easter 2012.
Today in 2013, the great efforts in reconstructing the area are clearly visible with most of the shops, restaurant and accommodation in Vernazza and Monterosso being back opened for normal business.
Restoring the access to the hiking trails as well as repairing and rebuilding the terracing around the area has been the most challenging part of the reconstruction process in the Cinque Terre.
However, a tremendous progress has been made here too since the winter of 2011 with most of the trails now operational. With the notable exception of N2 path – Manarola to Corniglia.
In any event, be aware that it is likely that not all paths will be accessible at any one time. And I would strongly recommend that you check the status of the hiking trails close to the day you decide to visit and see which are opened/closed at : Parco Nazionale 5Terre
I hope the above information is helpful in planning your visit and let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
