Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa will host a concert on Thursday 21 April 2011 at 8.30 p.m. The great Argentinean (naturalised Italian) composer and pianist Luis Bacalov, Academy Award winner for the soundtrack of «Il postino» (the last film starring Italian actor Massimo Troisi), will
conduct the Orchestra and Choir of Teatro Carlo Felice with a programme that will start with the
famous Concert for bandoneon and orchestra
by Astor Piazzolla and will then include two of Bacalov’s own compositions: Baires I Suite for Piano, bandoneon and string orchestra
- in which he will also perform solo at the piano – and the Misa tango for soloists, bandoneon, choir and orchestra
At the bandoneon, the Apulia-born soloist Gianni Iorio, one of the most outstanding bandoneon players in the world. Baritone Roberto Abbondanza, mezzo-soprano Maria Chiara Pavone, choir Maestro Marcovalerio Marletta.
